Primavera Residences’ Solar Panels Slash Energy Consumption

Primavera Residences’ 18-kWh solar panels have generated 19,200 kWh, or an estimated Php 307k savings a year in cumulative electricity bill shared by all unit owners based on 2G Konstract, Inc. report.

Primavera Residences, located in Uptown Cagayan de Oro, is a pioneering eco-friendly condominium project in northern Mindanao that offers unit owners a big advantage in energy savings. Built-in with cutting-edge green strategies, Primavera project harnesses the best principles of passive and active energy.

The building itself is designed with passive technology in the form of natural ventilation and natural lighting. In this way, the design cuts down the unit owners’ consumption in air conditioning and artificial lights. On the other hand, Primavera employs active energy through solar panels located on the rooftop to be more cost-effective for building maintenance. As of now, Primavera’s three sets of 3-kWh solar panels are installed in each tower for use in common areas of each structure.

Since 2016, Primavera’s solar panels have been operational and producing around 1200 kWh energy in each tower per month.For 16 months from April 2016 to July 2017, the solar panels in one tower save Php 9,600, with the building eventually gaining  Php153,600, or a total of  307, 000* Php electricity bill in all towers (*P8.00 rate per kWh computation).

Primavera Residences is architecturally designed to take the advantage of green living. It enhances natural ventilation through each tower’s inner courtyard, which enables the air to flow freely throughout the condominium. “Primavera is very well-ventilated. I started to like the building because it is very open. It is not like any typical building that is actually closed,” said Fermin de Leon, a unit owner in Primavera Residences.

Primavera enables the clients to enjoy a fresh-urbanized living. Another unit owner, Daisy Aguirre, shared, “When it comes to the building’s atmosphere, the air, especially in the afternoon, gives me comfort and the environment is very clean.”
