Italpinas Development Corporation (IDC), represented by Frances Mae Galvez, IDC’s Brand Manager; and Rubi Ong-Bieri, IDC’s Quality Management Specialist; along with Antonio Damiani, Damiani Property Management and Service Inc.’s General Manager, handed over the donation of goods and kitchen equipments for CDO’s Boxing Team under Mayor Oscar Moreno’s Amateur Boxing Program last December 10, 2018 at Buena Oro, Macasandig, Cagayan de Oro City.
L-R: Teddy Sabuga-a, Acting City Administrator; Antonio Damiani, Damiani Serviced Apartments General Manager; Frances Mae Galvez, IDC Brand Manager; Rubi Ong-Bieri, IDC Quality Management Specialist; City Councilor Jay Roa Pascual; and Stephen “Pong” Dacoco, City Sports Focal Person.
Before heading to the Training Center, the company had a brief courtesy call in the City Hall as Acting City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a, Councilor Jay Roa Pascual, and City Sports Focal Person Stephen “Pong” Dacoco relayed the certification of donation.
Acting City Administrator Sabuga-a and Councilor Pascual expressed profound gratitude for IDC and Damiani for the early Christmas presents and the support that they have shown that will somehow uplift the morale of the CDO boxers under Mayor Oscar Moreno’s administration.
Councilor Pascual also mentioned that aside from engaging into training, Mayor Moreno also made it a point that the children under his Amateur Boxing Program also consider education a priority aside from reaching their dream of becoming the next Manny Pacquiao. This is why aside from donating goods and equipment to their training center, IDC also pledged to assist them for their school supplies from next year on.
“It’s a known fact that Cagayan de Oro City is slowly becoming the boxing hub in Mindanao, if not in the Philippines. Which why we are more than glad that by donating these equipments, we have somehow helped these aspiring boxers slowly reach and attain their dream of becoming the next Manny Pacquiao,” said Galvez, IDC’s Brand Manager.
When asked about what inspired him to pursue boxing, Mark Lester Durens, a seven-time gold medallist, had this to say: “Above all, I’m very much thankful to God because he has given me this skill in boxing to harness not just in reaching my dreams but in helping my family as well those in need as what my idol, Manny Pacquiao, does. I’m also thankful towards Mayor Moreno for endlessly supporting us through his Amateur Boxing Program.”
